Artist's statement
The weather is a major player in our lives here on the moors above Penzance. Outside, in the garden, trees bend in the wind and crows take shelter. Sting, our elderly border collie, struggles to get up. Although a deep grey sky sometimes surrounds our stone house, Sting and I go for daily walks on the moors where we often spot the red of a fox at the edge of a field or rabbits hiding in the hedge. Back in the studio I try to capture the colours of the moorland and the fleeting glimpses of the animals and wild birds that are always about, injecting a humour into my paintings which I hope conveys my love for them and our shared countryside.
