Artist's statement
I have been a collage artist for 40 years. I discovered it as a process when I moved to the US and my oil paints were impounded by a dock strike. At the time I also made paper-maché pots and pieced quilts in the manner of the early settlers.
I have hopes that my womanly art, created with hundreds of intricately cut paper pieces, will eventually be recognised by a wider circle of enthusiasts.
My images are of Suffolk or places seen on holiday, created in my studio from detailed drawings in my sketchbook. I have for many years stayed at Seatoller House at the foot of the Honister Pass in the Lake District, Cumbria. Early in the morning, before breakfast and a long fell walk, I go up the pass and draw. My picture shown here is a collage created from one of those drawings.
I am happy to accept commissions.
