The butterflies, birds and orchids so lovingly captured in Joan Hodgkiss' etchings are reproduced here to create a fine set of Greeting Cards.
Artist's statement
My studio is small, with everything I need around me. If Rembrandt were alive, and visited me, he would recognise all the tools, methods and materials that I use. Ideas for work filter down slowly. When I'm out walking or bird watching, a certain landscape, light or detail will catch my eye; the curl of a bracken frond, the feathers of a bird. Bit by bit, via drawings, watercolours, zinc plate, varnish, acids and inks, a finished etching emerges. One cannot dash off an etching!
