Artist's statement
My work is influenced by artists as diverse as Ravilious and Rossetti, Caxton and Caulfield, and inspired by literature with its eternal themes of love, death, possession and jealousy, exploring the dark recesses of the mind and the lightness of the human spirit, deep stuff - l know! The written word has always fascinated me and there is nothing more thrilling than the ‘Eureka’ moment at the drawing board when l read the words, ‘see’ the image and then start creating the painting. I believe that we are all influenced by words from the cradle ABC, to the grave.
