Louise Stebbing

After 14 years away at college and work, I was enticed back to the Fens in the East of England where I converted a barn into my studio. Overlooking the rural Fenland landscape has been a great source of inspiration for my work. At home and abroad, I try to capture the essence of a place, for example the dramatic Fen skies and simple but intense landscapes. My images start with a sketch, then I like the linocut or screenprint to evolve as I create it – not working out too much detail in advance, but using my 30 years of experience of the techniques and use of colour to let the image develop.
