Nicola Slattery
For Nicola Slattery, it is always important that the viewer should be engaged to imagine more than they see. Intrigued by her imagery, Green Pebble has published numerous of Nicola's paintings as greeting cards, each more fascinating than the last.
Artist's statement
For me art is all about imagination. Whether or not a work of art is true to life or abstract the viewer should always be engaged to imagine more than they see. I usually paint with acrylics on wood and I like to develop a painting over several days and weeks. Acrylics dry quickly allowing changes to be over-painted easily. I also build up layers of colour and use an under-painting technique to give the colours depth. I live opposite a field of sheep and they provide some inspiration but people are nearly always present in my imagination and work.
