Last month Green Pebble Magazine invited the artists on its Facebook fan-base to submit a brief statement and an image of their work. We were looking for hidden talent, and we found lots! Many thanks to everyone who participated. There were a number of strong contenders, but one artist stood out in particular, and he was Stuart Adams, who is currently studying at the Cambridge School of Art where he is taking a Masters Degree in Printmaking.
Stuart’s art comes from a deep interest in drawing: ‘Whilst growing up, my imagination was fuelled by a diet of classic Disney films, British comic books, retro computer games and toys handed down from older relatives who no longer needed them. Then, after a trip to Disneyland, my fascination for cartoons was confirmed.’
Now, as an artist, Stuart makes bold, playful and often humorous artwork. ‘I enjoy creating imaginary cities and capturing daydreams onto paper. The best way to describe my artwork is that it is like taking a mystery tour bus through a city where Hieronymus Bosch meets Disney World.’
Sadly, we published too late for you to see Stuart’s work on display at the Cambridge School of Art, but you can find out more about the course on their website
And yes, we will be giving away more Mini Profiles to our Fans, so join us on ‘Green Pebble Magazine’ on Facebook and keep an ear to the ground.
