The Forum in Norwich has launched an appeal for artists from across the region to make submissions for a forthcoming exhibition exploring the theme of ‘Man and the Environment’ and the concerns we associate with the human impact on our world.
Artists from Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire are invited to register their interest to take part in Elements, which will be held at The Forum in Norwich for three weeks from 26th January 2010. The exhibition will offer artists the opportunity to submit work addressing a variety of ideas and concerns based around the theme. Organisers are keen that artists bring their own perspective to the subject matter.
Submitting artists will be selected by a panel and those successful will be exhibited in an exciting showcase of work from across the region. The Forum’s Atrium will form the main exhibition space offering access to around 50,000 visitors per week. It is expected that approximately 70 pieces, in a mix of media will be selected for exhibition.
As well as an opportunity to showcase their work, there is a £1,000 prize up for grabs, courtesy of exhibition sponsors Bayer CropScience Ltd in Norwich. The Bayer Prize will be awarded to one artist for an outstanding piece of work.
Managed by The Forum Trust, The Forum is a centre for culture and learning. The Trust has been responsible for large-scale public art events including Go Elephants! and Earth from the Air and has also worked in partnership with Norfolk Contemporary Arts Society on major exhibitions such as Photo-ID, which took place at the venue this summer as part of Contemporary Art Norwich (CAN 09). It is hoped that Elements 2010 will be viewed by artists as an exciting opportunity to explore a topical issue.
