I
was born in Essex, but now live on the Suffolk coast, the environment of
which is the basis of most of my work.
I have been painting since an early age and have developed a unique personal
visual language that creates a feeling of calm stillness. My paintings are
graphically striking yet subtle, and are a response to the raw isolation
and sharp light and colour of the Suffolk coast. In my work there is a simplification
and reduction of form and colour, and an emphasis on strong structure and
a defined contrast between light and dark.
