Elizabeth James

The landscape and, in particular, the East Anglian coast, are the main inspirations for my artistic practice.

I’m fascinated by the way the weather and changing seasons affect the sea, sky and landscape, marking the passage of time.

The coast with its vast stretches of open space extending away to the horizon line, indicating the apparent junction of earth and sky, gives me a sense of freedom, calm and escape and it’s these feelings that I aim to capture in my work.
