I don't believe that artists can play a central role in civic life or that they can potentially influence the political and social issues of the day. What pompous drivel. People change the system, artists merely decorate it.

I don't believe that getting a bunch of artists to sit around a lovely cosy table discussing civic improvement through creative thinking is anything other than achingly smug nonsense.

I don't believe an exclusive bunch of creative thinkers debating and exchanging knowledge across cultures, class and sectors are worth the time of day. Sounds like self aggrandising flannel to me.
I do believe in paint.

I do believe in action, not endless committee meetings.

I do believe in working with the common people, not arrogantly lecturing them. Afterall, am I not a common person too?
