I originally trained as a musician
but gradually painting took over. As a result I like to reflect the harmonies
and contradictions of these two disciplines and to relate them to the environment
about me. This is seen in both my landscapes and still-lifes,which, while
starting figurately, become more abstract as line and colour take over.
The shapes and textures of the sea, coast and countryside are my inspiration,
I start without knowing what the finished result will be,the destination
unknown until the work seems completed.
In Evening Light I am trying to capture a feeling of space and
light across the wide landscape as the day closes.
Coastline is about the vivid colour and movementof grasses growing
on a clifftop with the infinity of sea and sky beyond.
I am open to commissions of any kind relating to landscape, and can work
fairly rapidly if nesessary.
