    Karen Jones

Going back to my illustration roots, I am creating a series of intricate ’lace-like’ drawings, paintings and sculptures which I have termed ‘Line Works’. These artworks are a challenge for my skill as a painter and draughtsperson and are devised to test my creative abilities and sometimes my strength of character! These new artworks rely on an extremely limited colour palette; where possible, line becomes the colour. Using microscopically fine line work in gouache, acrylic and black Indian ink, I hope to produce a series of beautifully delicate, meticulously detailed, ‘lace-like’ artworks influenced by the stylised beauty and precision of works by artists such as Fornasetti, Edward Bawden, Gustave Dore and Eric Ravilious.
