Making an Appearance is a 30x30x2 inches canvas print of an original painting by Gill Bustamante. It comes in a white wooden floater frame (frame with slight gap between the canvas and the frame so it appears to ‘float’). The dimensions with the frame are 31.5x31.5 inches. The depth of frame is 2 inches (stands out from the wall by 2 inches) and the width of frame is ½ an inch. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and free gifts from the artist. The canvas was printed with fade resistant ink and has a matte varnish for protection. It can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth if needed.
See video for an example of the frame (not the same print)
Making an Appearance is a print of an oil painting in semi-abstract art-nouveau style of a peacock appearing in a bluebell wood. It was inspired by the wonderful bluebell performance we had in spring 2021 which never fails to make everyone feel happier. The edges of the painting are blurred so that your eye moves into the centre clearing and there are multi layers that suggest light through trees. A pink blossom tree is on the left and a peacock is on the right and is transparent as he is not fully formed. It is a magical painting as befits a bluebell wood in full bloom. This particular bluebell wood glade is near Cowden in Kent. I painted it with the colours and atmosphere in mind rather that botanical details and am happy that I can still smell the scent of the flowers and the blossom trees and hear the birds in the wood singing when I look at it. The peacock was added afterwards as I did hear a peacock in one of the old mansion house properties around Cowden. I wished he could be in the trees among the bluebells as his blue and green pearlescent feathers would have been perfect. This is him making an appearance curtesy of artistic licence.
