Bud vase 2 - ceramic in ocean blue and jasper glazes.
After throwing the clay and trimming, my bud vases are fired, and then multiple layers of glazes are brushed on to create intermingling unique designs. The second firing of each pot, to a higher temperature, melts the glazes and creates the glossy surface on a stoneware pot. Towards the base of this pot in a band of black glaze there is my maker’s mark, which was impressed in the clay after trimming. Blends of light and dark ocean blues cover most of the pot, which are overlaid towards the rim with streaks of jasper.
