Each of my stoneware vases have their own unique character. This vase has a turned over ‘shirt collar’ edge at the front. I lined the vase with a shiny black glaze to add a strong contrast to the gently textured matt outside, and I have worked a band of black porcelain into the texture.
The outside of the vase is left unglazed to retain the wonderful texture of fired stoneware. It has been fully protected by coating layers of Liquid Quartz over the texture after firing, so finger marks or any vegetation that fall onto the surface will not leave stains.
My maker’s mark (AS) is impressed on the base.
