This set is something that I love making, and using. Each piece is hand shaped from stoneware clay and glazed by hand. The set is contained in a beautiful wooden storage case to keep the pieces safe. The board is 2cm thick solid elm, hand painted and then treated with natural bees wax polish.
There is no set way to use the pieces apart from the button mushroom pawns and the toadstool kings and queens. As the remaining pieces are in pairs you can choose which ones are the bishops, knights and rooks (although the tree stumps work very well as rooks!).
The set has been based on real mushrooms, such as toadstools, blue elf cups, yellow wax caps, oysters, blue milk caps and buttons. It is a truly unique set that we enjoy playing ourselves and love how much fun it is, as well as a pleasure to look at!
The board measures 35cm x 35cm. This set is made by Tim.
