With very little drawing to guide me, I work freely and intuitively, enjoying the excitement of using a pallet knife and heavy body acrylics to give each animal a look and distinctive character all of their own. With nature and photographs as reference - not forgetting a good splash of imagination - my animal personas are not exact representations; I hope to encourage the viewer's eye to explore the subject and to fill in with their own ideas the character of the animal depicted.
