Atlas is a one off tapestry weaving hand woven on a loom from Worsted spun wool and 100% cotton warp. The ceramic beads have been woven into the piece and were the inspiration for the beautiful muted palette of neutrals and pale blues.
The art of rug making originated in the Atlas Mountains where the nomadic tribes, influenced by the Persian traders, began producing rugs with wool from the local sheep. 'Atlas' seemed a fitting name as the finished piece resembles a tiny rug.
The artwork has been sewn onto a linen mount and comes complete with the black frame which can be hung vertically or horizontally. The tapestry measures 19cm x 8cm and the frame itself measures 33cm x 20cm.
