David Alderslade
I live in a caravan on the edge of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, near to the ancient megalithic sites of Avebury and Stonehenge. Spending much of my time exploring the landscape, I search for inspiring locations, dramatic weather conditions and encounters with wildlife. I paint in watercolour and gouache, using pencil crayons for foreground detail, and have recently added air-brush techniques to create subtle lighting effects and shadows. I like to use photography for reference, but prefer to work from memories (which are often exaggerated!) creating an impression of reality in a colourful and individual style.
