Saori is a one-off woven wall hanging It features a variety of textures and colours including blends of purples, blues, greens and pinks. It incorporates different weaving techniques and embellishments such as a the pompom' which is actually knotting into the warp and trimmed to make a carpet like texture. It is finished with a long looped double fringe.
A wooden dowel is inserted at the top of the weaving, with a purple cord attached for hanging. It measures 23cm x 30cm.
Saori originates from a Japanese freestyle of handweaving that emphasizes creative expression, embracing flaws and creating unique, one of a kind pieces, with a focus on joy with no set patterns or rules. Sounds like a good philosophy for artwork and, indeed, life itself!
